Pastel Cowgirls — Malley’s Silos, Cleveland, Ohio

If you happen to live in or near the Cleveland area, chances are you’ve passed three pastel pink silos labeled “cocoa,” “milk” and “sugar.” These iconic staples of Ohio are part of Malley’s Chocolate factory! In 1935, Albert Malley began a family-owned chocolate making business, and the rest is history! I had seen an image of the gorgeous bubble-gum colored silos online and KNEW I had to make use of them for a photoshoot backdrop during my next trip to the Cleveland area! Here’s an image I took of the gorgeous silos when visiting them myself:

On a cold February evening, the atmosphere was filled with a sense of anticipation and excitement as a talented team of photographers and models gathered on location for a photoshoot like no other. The air was brisk, the sky a canvas of muted pastels dancing through the heavens, and despite the chilly temperature, the energy and camaraderie amongst the tea were palpable, setting the stage for the remarkable photoshoot ahead.
If you know anything about myself of my work, I love to push the envelope and do things a little out of the ordinary. For instance, when I saw these gorgeous silos, I was inspired by the colors pink, black, and white! Either way, I am extremely satisfied with how this shoot came out! My vision was three models embodying the three colors, but I thought assigning each model to a color would be boring. I ordered the wardrobe for the thee models, and made sure each had a specific pattern of pink, black, and white. Each model was supplied with a pair of opaque tights, long-sleeved bodysuit, fuzzy sunglasses, and cowboy — ahem — cowgirl hat. When it came to shoes, my photographer friend Dani (aka @theeditorialstyle on Instagram) and I had the girls covered. The three models, each possessing their own unique charm and charisma, arrived on set with radiant smiles that instantly melted away the cold. Their great attitudes and unwavering enthusiasm became the driving force that transformed the frosty environment into a haven of creativity, positivity, and warmth. Once all three models changed in their cars, the shoot was ready to begin!

As the photoshoot progressed, the sun began its descent, casting a golden hue across the silos and surrounding landscape. As the last shot of the day was taken, there was an overwhelming sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. The cold had been vanquished by the warmth of spirits united in a shared goal of creativity. The model’s incredible attitudes, while adorned in only bodysuits, tights and shoes, and the collective effort of the team had transformed a potentially challenging photoshoot day into a captivating visual narrative that would be remembered by all involved for years to come.
