Ethereal Photoshoot with a Roman Column in the Middle of a Lake
When I first came across the white corinthian column at Hobby Lobby, it inspired me in SOOO many ways! Since then, I’ve seen some of my incredibly talented friends Dani (@theeditorialstyle) and Michael (@michael_betznerphotography) utilize these columns in such incredible ways.
My friend Hannah (@jenningsmodeling) was game to execute this concept with me, and we kept our eyes out on the weather for a good, sunny day! We both knew we wanted golden hour sun or direct sun for this shoot. We got a mix of both, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! The scene was set against a serene lake, its surface mirroring the brilliant blue sky above. The sun, a radiant orb of warmth, cast its golden rays across the water upon our arrival, setting the vibe for a serene, gorgeous photoshoot. The smooth surface of the white Roman column glistened in the sunlight; this column, a symbol of classical refinement, seemed to emerge organically from the earth ethereally. We added baby’s breath flowers that I had left over from the previous day’s photoshoot to the mix, the dainty white blossoms danced like clouds in the gentle breeze. The airy simplicity of these flowers completed the scene’s pristine white aesthetic, evoking a feeling of purity and innocence.
We experimented with the column on land, in water, and on its side at the base of the lake. A concrete planter, brought by Hannah, fashioned in the likeness of a Roman face, added another touch of antiquity to the shoot. The stern yet captivating visage carved into the planter's surface seemed to tell tales of bygone eras, a testament to the enduring allure of history. From this planter, trailing vines cascaded, softening the concrete's austerity with a lush burst of greenery. The shoot supplied equal parts of soberness and softness, exactly as I had dreamt it would the day I purchased the column.
Hannah moved with poise and grace as she sat, kneeled on, and even bravely stood atop the white column. The lake was tranquil, and rid of others aside from a few swimmers in the distance, mirroring the unity of the elements around it. It seemed as if Hannah had walked into
The sun radiated onto Hannah, the props and the lake itself; every shot captured a moment in time, a perfect fusion of nature and human creativity. The sunlight, gentle and warm, painted the scene with a golden hue, enveloping all that could be seen in a soft, dreamlike glow.
