Pastel Group Editorial — Bonneville Salt Flats, Wendover, Utah

Every photographer dreams about shooting at the infamous salt flats of Utah. The salt flats are an extremely unique landscape, mimicking the appearance of snow in the middle of a desert! This area is known for its vast, flat views of white salt, but not many are privy to its history. Thousands of years ago, these flats were formed by an ancient Lake Bonneville that covered the majority of Western Utah at the time. Due to natural climate changes over time, the lake dried up and receded to size of the current Great Salt Lake. The salt and other natural minerals left behind by the lake are what w enow know as the salt flats today.
I styled and hosted a photoshoot at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah recently, and I can’t wait to share with you!

I contacted five models local to Salt Lake City, and rented the gowns from Utah Gowns (@utahgowns) and Lemon Gowns (@lemon_gowns). Once we set a date and time, I was bursting with excitement! I just KNEW I’d get some incredible images during this shoot. Daja (@dajasbad) stunned in the pink gown from Utah Gowns, Maisie (@a.maisie.ing) killed it in the orange gown from Utah Gowns, Lily (@lily.smith00) rocked the yellow gown from Utah Gowns, Rae (@raepito) was an absolute mood in our blue gown by Utah Gowns, and Aliyah (@liyahbobeah) was to die for in our purple gown from Lemon Gowns. Makeup was added to each model by Lo (@citruscollectiveco), and the models set out from the parking lot toward the Salt Flats.
In a dance of ethereal beauty, the tulle dresses billowed gracefully in the wind, their layers cascading like soft whispers caught by the breeze. Each delicate fold of fabric took flight, as if embracing the freedom granted by the invisible hands of nature. The sun's golden rays illuminated each gown's intricate details, revealing a play of shadows and highlights that danced in harmony with the wind's gentle embrace. As each dress swirled and twirled, it seemed to come alive, an embodiment of movement and grace captured in a single enchanting moment. As the first soft hues of dawn painted the horizon, the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah transformed into a mesmerizing canvas for an enchanting group photoshoot. Against the vast expanse of pristine white salt, the five models adorned in flowing pastel tulle gowns created a captivating tableau of colors and textures. The air held a hushed excitement as the photographers prepared to capture the magic that awaited. With the first rays of sunlight casting a warm and delicate glow, the models stepped onto the salt flats, each wearing a unique pastel hue that harmonized effortlessly with the serene landscape. The gentle breeze lifted their tulle skirts, creating an ethereal dance that celebrated the union of nature's elements and the elegance of human artistry. As the sun climbed higher in the sky, the tulle gowns caught the light in a breathtaking symphony of translucence and brilliance. The salt flats, as far as the eye could see, seemed to mirror the soft tones of the dresses, creating an otherworldly atmosphere that suspended time itself.
